Our commitment to the communities we work in continues well beyond the opening ceremonies or ribbon cutting. That’s why all our projects include a training component for local residents. For example, during construction of a school, residents typically receive training in the fields of carpentry, plumbing and electrical. They work alongside experienced professionals over the duration of the job, thus acquiring not just short-term employment, but marketable skills that will last a lifetime. Once construction of the school is complete, we ensure local residents have the skills and confidence to properly maintain it. We provide training on how to operate the mechanical systems, schedule regular maintenance, etc. Whatever the project, our intent is to share knowledge, transfer skills, and maximize local labour. The result is a measurable economic benefit and improved standard of living for the community. |
